EASY! ITALIAN DESSERT: CHOCOLATE SALAMI

This Italian dessert recipe is easy and a true delight! The soft chocolate combined with the crunchy biscuits, crispy chocolate, and pistachios.

Before the Christmas season, I have a lot of sweets recipes ideas.
But the plan is difficult to always carry out.
Because it falls into the usual pattern:
Children catch a cold and get transferred to me and become serious before Christmas.

There, this is the best dessert for such situations.

This Italian dessert is usually prepared for Easter and Christmas season in many regions of Italy.

The mixed texture is a true delight:
The soft chocolate combined with the crunchy biscuits, crispy chocolate, and pistachios!
The appearance imitated in salami also is funny, slices and eats one after another.

Description

This Italian dessert recipe is easy and a true delight! The soft chocolate combined with the crunchy biscuits, crispy chocolate, and pistachios.


Ingredients

Scale

  • 2 cups plain biscuits
  • ½ cup butter, (melted)
  • 1 large egg
  • ⅘ cup powdered sugar
  • ⅖ cup cacao powder
  • ¼ cup chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup pistachios, (coarsely chopped)
  • 3 tbsp rum
  • powdered sugar, (for coating)

Instructions

  1. First, Melt Butter in a saucepan or in the microwave.
  2. Set aside and let cool to room temperature. 
  3. Place biscuits in a large plastic bag and crush them into small pieces using a rolling pin.
  4. Beat the egg and sieve the cocoa powder and powdered sugar.
  5. In a bowl put crushed biscuits, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, chocolate chips and chopped pistachios.
  6. Add egg and melted butter(room temperature!), then mix until combined.
  7. Place the mixture on plastic wrap and roll it as if it were a stick of salami.
  8. Twist the ends.
  9. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  10. Spread powdered sugar, cut into pieces and serve!
  11. Keep in the fridge or freezer.If kept in the freezer, place at room temperature before serving.

Notes

It's a quite easy recipe but please be careful of only one thing: 
Melted butter should be room temperature.
If not, it will cause melting of chocolate and cookies become soggy.
