These chocolate glazed donuts are so easy and delicious. Adding yogurt to the batter for these donuts made them light, soft and rich. No yeast makes this recipe quicker and easier.
Ingredients
For the Donuts dough
- 200 g all-purpose flour
- 80 g granulated sugar
- 25 g unsalted butter
- 1 egg
- 90 g yoghurt
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- sunflower oil, (for frying)
For the Chocolate Glaze
- 100 g Chocolate
- 1 teaspoon (4g) sunflower oil
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a saucepan or in the microwave. Set aside and let cool to room temperature.
- In a large bowl, whisk the sugar and the egg.
- Add the yoghurt and melted butter, then mix until combined.
- Add the sifted flour, baking powder and salt, using a rubber spatula to fold it in until combined.
- Wrap the dough and refrigerate for about 1 hour.
- Remove the dough from the fridge and roll it out on a lightly floured surface until it is 1cm (0.5inch) thick.
- Use a donut cutter (or different size of round cookie cutter) to cut out the donuts.
- Put the oil in a large saucepan or Dutch oven over low - medium heat.
- Carefully add the doughnuts to the oil, a few at a time and cook doughnuts. When the bottoms are deep golden, use a slotted spoon to turn over. Cook until they’re deep golden all over.
For the Chocolate Glaze
- Melt chocolate in a microwave or in a bowl set over a pan of simmering water.
- Add the sunflower oil and mix well.
- Dip the tops of the donuts into the chocolate glaze. Let cool until the glaze is set. Enjoy preferably the same day!
