Description

This Classic Tiramisu Recipe is a no-bake Italian dessert combining espresso dipped ladyfingers (savoiardi biscuits), fluffy mascarpone cream and topped with cocoa powder. This is the best classic tiramisu recipe!


Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 cup (200ml) espresso, warm or room temperature
  • 20 ladyfingers
  • 4 egg yolk
  • 60 g granulated sugar
  • 250 g mascarpone
  • 2 egg white
  • 40 g granulated sugar
  • 100 ml heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder, unsweetened

Instructions

  1. Prepare 1 cup of espresso or strong black coffee. Set aside.

For the mascarpone cream

  1. Combine egg yolks and sugar, whisk until light and foamy about 5 minutes.
  2. Remove from the heat and pour into the mascarpone. Beat on medium speed until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, using an electric mixer whip cream to soft peaks. Fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture.
  4. In a separate bowl, using an electric mixer beat the egg whites and sugar until stiff peaks form. Fold into the mascarpone cream.
  5. Dip half of the ladyfingers very quickly into the coffee, and line the bottom of a 9x6 inch baking pan/dish.
  6. Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture on top of the first layer of ladyfingers.
  7.  Repeat process with the second layer of ladyfingers and cream mixture.
  8. Refrigerate uncovered for 2-3 hours.
  9. Dust top layer with tablespoon of cocoa powder just before serving.

Notes

This recipe contains raw eggs because the real traditional way to make Tiramisu is to use raw eggs. But you can make tiramisu by beating eggs over a double boiler or pasteurized eggs if there's concern.
